Yesterday Start.com unveiled the https://www.start.com/pdc. Good one to try it out and we can even add RSS feeds. To add msvistablog.net I just browsed to ‘add content‘ and did a search on ‘Microsoft Vista Blog‘ and my blog entry popped at the beginning and asked to subscribe…thats all…I didnt gave the direct RSS feed … good it picked automatically … (and the search is real fast…within no time we can see the listings ..great work) … even though it lists only top 5 entries and href is not displayed correctly as in the screen shot..I have to see whether it is a bug from my blog or from start.com displaying the RSS feeds. The start.com also has 3 different themes at present (ice, ocean and granite) and you can place the columns wherever you want.
Anyway, you can play with https://www.start.com/pdc as well as https://www.start.com/developer and send the feedback to the start.com for any improvements or suggestions.
Few things that I observed could improve it:
- The search results did not display the search keywords back to see what keywords we used to search for.
- The Search for feeds or Add feed or gadget by URL text boxes are not caching the data and every time I have to enter it
- Customizing the colums should allow us to display what columns ( (like My Yahoo! does) we want instead of just allowing the placement change
