iPhone 3G Performance Boost – 2.1 Software

I brought the new iPhone 3G the same day I came back from India as the 1st generation iPhone was handed over to my sister during the India visit.

After installing few new iPhone applications from AppStore; I noticed the phone seems to crash on and off and sometimes the response to keystrokes literally used to take ~10s also. And not to say; some times I can’t even end the call that easily.

Finally I called the iPhone support, and after explaining everything the customer representative told me that the 2.1 software addresses all the issues (which actually released on the same day). So, after updating with 2.1 (one need iTunes 8 inorder to work with 2.1 updated iPhone); everything seems to be positive and works like a charm.

At least I don’t see any issues that I had in the last week; and good thing is; 2.1 also looks like fixed the batter drain issue; lets see how long the batter will stay from now onwards.

Finally iPhone works

Finally I found a solution to all my problems with the iPhone…After contacting the Apple iPhone technical support team over the phone (1-800-My-iPhone), they found that it could be an issue with the hardware and asked me to stop by to the nearby apple store. Before doing that they actually asked me to restore the phone and iTunes wiped everything and it failed to restore back to the old state. Even though the iTunes recognised the device; but it is not letting to perform any sync or restore operation. The local store guys with some basic questions, replaced with a new one (not really sure brand new or refurbished, but at least it does not have any refurbished marks).

Now no crashes when I connect the device to the PC nor it skips the tracks while playing the songs. Good to go and lets wait and see what happens in the coming days ! It will be really great if it can work till the 3G one is released.

YAII – Yet Another iPhone Issue

Well; things still seems to be not right with iPhone and iTunes on my Windows Vista. It happens every time I connect my iPhone to the PC; I even upgraded to the latest release of the iTunes and that is not helping it.

But since 3 days I got yet another new problem. I use my iPhone when I goto gym as it is a must case for my 40-minute workout; and after 20-25 mts of time; the phone starts skipping the tracks for every 3-5 secs and does not play most of them. Even after rebooting the phone also; gets into the same mode. Only option is to leave it for 10 mts and then it starts playing back. I am not positive if the ear-buds are sensitive to the sweat though. At times even the touch screen looses the sensitivity and I can not do anything other than waiting for 2-3 minutes. Something is completely wrong.

Time to place a apple iPhone support call

iTunes, iPhone completely broken

I am not sure what is happening since few days, whenever I plugin my iPhone to the system, I always see the following error message (AppleMobileDeviceHelper has stopped working):

The only option is to close it and come back..and sometimes it starts to sync and some times it does not recognize; but it charges. Reboot, restart does not help. I have up2date itunes and iphone software installed.

iTunes could not connect to the iPhone

Well..thats the case since few weeks …. even earlier, when I plugin my iPhone to the PC desktop running Windows Vista (happens on XP too)..on and off iTunes does not connect immediately when iPhone is attached to the system and it keeps recycling the connection by beeping..so, reboot will normally fix that …

But lately iTunes crashes most of the time when I plugin my iPhone and only option is to kill it from the Task manager. Looks like a bug to me in the iTunes.. and I have the latest iTunes along with the latest up2date software on my iPhone as well.

Here is the screen shot of the error from iTunes when it crashed..

iPhone Stocks Ticker – Markets Closed

Since couple of weeks I had a weired issue with the iPhone. The stocks gadget or application powered by Yahoo! Finance always shows “Markets Closed” for almost all the day from morning to evening (atleast I started noticing it from 9.00 AM PST)

So, I sent a mail to finance team today to confirm this, and I received a immediate attention and after digging in to this; they were able to isolate the issue..may be its a known issue to them…The reason is; since Alibaba started trading in Hong Kong Exchange; I had that symbol 1688.HK in my porpolio; even though rest of them are all NASDAQ traded… So, if you have any international stock symbol in your list; you may see the same problem irrespective of rest of the stocks trading time.

Looks like they will fix this as soon as possible; but am not very sure if its Yahoo! specific issue or Apple one.

iPhone mail attachment missing in forward

I am not sure if anybody else has the similar issue, but for me am not able to see the attachment in the mail that I forward from my iPhone.

For example, I receive a mail with an attachment (lets say with .doc and/or .pdf with less than 1K) and when I forward that email to some other account by checking the option to include the attachment (iPhone will automatically ask you whether to include the attachment or not while forwarding), the mail arrives without any attachment to the mail content. I tried by sending it to different @yahoo and @gmail accounts and nothing shows up.

So, not sure how to tackle this issue. Man, sometimes I hate iPhone when it comes to few basic features.
